THE VOW OF SILENCE
A 'vow' may sound a bit over the top - maybe more than a bit - but this is serious stuff!
We watch these games as if they were truly live; i.e., virtually no one is aware of the final score or who won - even though the game was played earlier.
Yes, it takes some serious discipline, but we highly recommend you stay off U.S. sports web sites, facebook, don't call your state-side buddies, etc. and stay blissfully ignorant of the score. It makes for a MUCH more fun viewing.
So...to respect the enjoyment of your fellow 'Horns, if you do know the final score, please keep it completely to yourself. This can be very challenging at times, but we've become pros at it.
To date, we've completely welcomed, and encouraged, fans from opposing teams to join us. If you do bring along a rival fan, please brief them on the virtue of silencio.
This goes double for any email messages to your President or game organizer that has spent time arranging the event. Please, no hints, rants, or anything else to do with the game result - not even as a joke.
Some tips on staying completely in the dark - Between Sat and game watching:
Be careful opening your emails from home before game watching, they'll just slip it in.
Tell your 'helpful' friends and family back home not to leave voicemail messages with the game results
