In '01, we took on the "Big Tour Bus", in '02 is was a stroll down Portobello Rd, for '03...
Some of the Ladies and Lord Nelson in '01, The crew in '02 and The Swan, our traditional start-end point
This year, we've rented our OWN London Double Decker Bus and will be hitting some of London's best pubs for an afternoon of fun & merriment (dare we even hope for SUN??).
No decent beach between here and Spain? No problem! We're hitting pubs that either have great views over bodies of water and parks or a vague association with something, well, "watery"
We're starting at 13:30 at The Swan (A pub with a great view of Hyde Park named after a watery bird) right next to Lancaster Gate Tube Stop in W2. The bus leaves promptly at 14:00, so get there early!
EVERYONE is welcome, even if you've never seen the UT Tower in Austin! To pay for the bus, we're asking for £10 (by 21 June, £15 after). Other costs are just what you eat and drink on the way.
The Route: We will start and stop at The Swan and include stops at The Waterway a very cool spot on the canal in Little Venice, the bizarre "Paradise via Kendall green", the laid back "Prince of Wales" in Holland Park and The Blue Anchor with great views on the Thames near Hammersmith Bridge
The 'Schedule': O.k., the last 2 years the schedule ended up to be rather, er, "fluid". We anticipate equally poor time management this time. We just have to get going at 14:00 and be back by 19:00, other than that, we'll see how it goes. Hey, we're having FUN here! For the sake of having one, the rough schedule is:
13:30 Meet at Pub #1, The Swan
14:00 Bus leaves the Swan, don't miss it!
14:15 - 15:00 Pub #2: The Waterway, sweet overlook pub on the Grand Union
Canal in Maida Vale
15:15 - 16:00 Pub #3, What would a Beach Party be without a trip to PARADISE!
Yep, we're headed to the very Bohemian "Paradise By Way of
Kensall Green", home of the Fallen Angel - you'll just have to come
along to see what this is all about
16:20- 17:00 Pub #4 The Prince of Wales In Holland Park (hey, Chuck was a Naval
Officer, so this is TOTALLY within the theme), very cool pub on
loverly Pottery Lane
17:30 - 18:30 Pub #5, The Anchor overlooking the Thames near Hammersmith
Bridge
18:30ish Return to The Swan, then we'll see what happens next!
